Fly In at Cruzan Field 8/24/13
If anyone is going to the Fly-in at Cruzan Field on Saturday 8/24/2o13, let me know by posting here. Bob's powered parachute (PPC) buddy's will be flying Friday evening and all day Saturday. He has invited us to join them and since they don't fly much in the part of the day when turbulence/thermals are present, hang gliding may provide some entertainment. I would say between the hours of 11:00am and 5:00pm. Pitch-in dinner at 5:00pm and Bob said there may be a chance for a ride in a PPC. I will be out of town so will not be attending, but if Bob doesn't mind, I'll bring the scooter gear out Friday for you guy's.

The lift forecast for Saturday: B/S ratio 4-5 Just south a few miles, ratio is 5-6.
Updraft velocity 300 - 400 fpm
Top of usable lift 3000 - 4000 ft
Wind ESE 3 - 4 mph

This is of course a "forecast" subject to change.

Patrick and I are discussing it via text. If we can get at least one more person to commit, say James or Michal, I think we'll be a go. I think it would be good PR to show up since the Cruzan's have been so welcoming, and besides that I think it would be a great time! I'll keep the group here updated as more pilots join in.

I'm in, but I'll be bringing the kids, so we'll have to make a group effort to keep an eye on them. It takes a village ... :-)

Update: my wife is not too keen on me bringing the kids, something about my one-track-mind not being able to supervise and partake in the activities at the same time, so we'll discuss it more tonight, and it looks like we all will be coming, just not as early as I thought. Hoping to be there by noon. I'll keep ya posted.

The XC Skies forecast has improved. I can't believe I'm going to miss it. B/S ratio 6-7, updraft velocity 400 - 500 fpm. Sky out and make me jealous.

Great to see an improved soaring forecast! It would be sweet to see someone stay up for more than an extended sled ride. I personally am looking forward to seeing the powered guys do what they do too. Should be a good time, and the PR won't hurt either. One of us will be sure to keep you updated on what you're missing Kent! I may have to leave that to Michal or Patrick though since I am planning on getting an hour and three spot landings in a row! ;-) Yeah right...

Update #3: I'll be there between 11 and noon, by myself. The wifey and the kids will join us around 3-4pm. So you better be on your best behavior!! :-)

Forecast has improved even more this morning. B/S 9 - 10 ( as high as it goes ) updraft velocity 500 - 600 fpm. Better decide beforehand how long each person stays up so everyone gets a chance. Might even get two in the air together if you get someone to help at launch end.
