Forecast looks good, the date numerology doesn't, if you believe in superstitions.

Who's brave enough?

The forecast is improving: 10-13 mph, updraft 700-900fpm, B/S ratio 7-8. I'm having a dejavu of Keith and my flights when we got a taste of cloudbase and XC flying ....

Call to Kentucky pilots. Madison looks promising Friday. Maybe not enough wind to soar but enough to push thermals towards the ridge and produce strong lift. Indiana is coming to you. Where are you?

Well. Michal and I went. Conditions were marginal: wind was switchy mostly 30 degree cross around 4 mph without incoming thermal up to 20 at the hight of the thermal. The tree line is high, too much for a no wind take off. Probably launchable at the tail of a cycle but with no room for error at a risk of one wing popping up with a wind switch and nose popping up with a sudden gust. So we did not fly. Hawks were soaring. We need, with the camp ground owner's consent shorten this tree line.

Does anyone know if it's OK to trim or take down some of the trees in front of launch?

The campground owner also owns the land where the trees are. I suppose we should ask her. Kim Banker told me that last time the trees were cut, she was OK for shortening them but not to take them down

Updraft velocity 600-800fpm, B/S ration 7, top of usable lift 3-4k.

Except now the velocity forecast has changed from 13-17 down to 8-10. Sooooooooo. Forget it. That's not enough to launch safely.
