Sorry fellow pilots. I made an attempt to go flying with all of you today only to my failure with the alternator going bad and left me stranded on the interstate in my van. My brother came and hauled it home on his trailer. Hope I didnt spoil the fun. Im glad it wasnt wasnt worst. Maybe next time we all can get together. I was really looking forward to it.

I think my van is fixed now. I changed the alternator and checked everything. It should be good to go. Going to see how it does in the next couple days. let me know if there will be any flying.

I am taking a small vacation near Greenpoint MI. This morning was flyable but not soarable and the lake is so high there is no beach to land on but an irregular grassy strip. No other pilot around for 3 days. So I did not fly.
But...
Saturday looks really good for Sheridan. S and SSW 8 mph. Anyone interested?

We are leaving on vacation on Fri, so I'm out for the next 2 weekends.

Man, summer is almost over and I only flew once.

My availability this weekend will depend on whether I'm able to get my brakes repaired before then or not. I was delivering a matress to my brother up in Marion yesterday and on my way home I popped my left front brake line. I googled the nearest Midas store and after looking at it they told me it was going to be $561.55. Bullspit! I told them to bring it back out and I'd try to drive it home. He of course advised against that, but I made it in spite of everyone. I'll be working on it here today. I'm hoping to be available if I can manage. I'll keep you posted!

I certainly appreciate the offer Patrick, but I really need to get my truck drivable before next week. With week after week of rain and now this I'm so far behind on my work that it's ridiculous! Better stay home ANOTHER weekend and try to get these brakes working.

There is a way.
James and I did go flying yesterday. Thanks to my wife Rebecca who acted as a spotter. We got a late start as it was James' day off and he was not reachable. So when he said let's go around 2 PM, I charged the car, reassembled the cone series to protect the car roof from the falling gauge, loaded rig, battery, harness and glider. We made a quick stop at the charging station to "top it off", ended up at the North end of the Sheridan road around 5 PM. James took the first flight, towed to 1500 found a thermal he zeroed in for a few minutes, then another until a helicopter came into view. He greated him with wing-overs and landed. I flew next made a few turns in a weak thermal, the landed on the road. We slowly made our way back to the charging station as the battery level was really low but made it.
So we flew. With zero emission and zero expense.
