Yup, James finally went for a little XC today! After pinning off early, 600-700ft. because of dropping tension, James climbed out and went for the first XC in central Indiana in several years. Max altitude, 1522ft with a total time aloft of 17 min. 20 sec. His video is posted on my Youtube page, here. https://youtu.be/0DigWUmDZxI

Patrick's flight just a little earlier in the day is posted here, https://youtu.be/A6U88N8t1oo
His max altitude was 1442, he probably should have headed out too!

All in all, a nice day out!

that was definitely awesome to watch. When climbing up, were you getting knocked around by the thermal or do you work it like that? I'm talking about the circular push-ups you seem to be doing around the basetube? Looks like a lot of work!!!

Congrats, James!!! Now the unofficial contest for XC in Indiana begins!!! :-)

Low and slow. I was 1522' when I decided to go. Nothing thermals 50ft/min up. I spent all my time looking for a place to land. Next field next field. It finally died 8 miles North. Check out the video. It was nice.

You definitely want to core the thermal opposite to the direction of the way it twists. How are you supposed to know that? You can't. But one way twists you up faster than the other. How are you supposed to know? Guess. Try the other way. You can't see these things.
