Flying anyone?
The forecast for the ridge (Richmond Dale, OH) for Friday looks stellar!! I'm considering taking a day off to get some much needed airtime, even if it's cold. Actually, it's gonna be hot by today's standards, around 30 deg :-) Does anyone want to join me? We can meet up around New Castle or Richmond and carpool from there (if you're coming from Indy area).

I'll make my final decision tomorrow afternoon.

Michael, just let me know... looks like a bit of a road trip (I may be able to meet you around Dayton or so since you'll be going over from Indy). Methinks a little flight time might be a good present to myself for the ol' birthday! How stellar is "stellar," though? I've never been out to Richmond Dale...

It's close to 3hr drive one way for me, but that's about the norm no matter where I go.

Ideal forecast for Richmond Dale is 12 - 15 mph from 220 - 260. The launch faces 240 and it's my experience that anything more west than 240 just doesn't work. A little southern component still works (down to 220). In the winter the wind doesn't have to be as strong, as the cold air is denser than warm summer air, or so I've been told.

Here and here and here are the forecasts. The wind chill factor makes it pretty discouraging. I do have a balaclava and ski googles, though. :-) Also, the weekend forecast is starting to look better and better.

Any thoughts?

Checking the weather often now, Sat, Sun and Monday look very very ridge soarable now. I'm on-call this weekend, but I'm planning on getting my call traded/covered and aiming for some Saturday flying (I know at least 1 Ohio person would join us, and that's always good). I can't go without joining up with someone with a 4WD. With this ice and snow I'm pretty darn sure my car wouldn't make it to the top, the road is narrow and steeeeeep, I'd end up in the trees.

Stay tuned.

Just a little reminder Michal. Anyone flying Ohioflyer sites must be a current paid member of the Ohio club, with all waivers signed. At least that is my understanding. Wish I could go, but maybe next time. Good flying to you.

I too wish I could get away this weekend, but just can't make it happen. I think you can sign-up for the Ohio flyers and pay your dues right on their website. Can't you Michal? Please do this if you haven't yet and are wanting to fly with our brothers to the east!

Thanks, Kent, I totally forgot to mention that in all that excitement. Yes, you do you have to join OF. And Kim is right, too. You can do that in a few clicks on the OF site using Paypal (or credit card, I think, not sure).

I have my work call covered for either Sat or Sun. Saturday would be easier for me to get the nod from my wife, but Sunday will be a bit warmer and possibly more people from Ohio would join us. Decisions, decisions ....

Stay tuned.

Looks like I am booked Friday and Saturday... Sunday may be a possibility for me, but I would need to shift a couple things on the schedule... let's keep watching the weather!

The forecast is deteriorating with every few hours. It's looking too west for Sat and too strong for Sun. I think we missed a good one today.

I'll still check in the morning if by any miracle it may happen, but I'm doubtful. Oh well, there's always next time.
